So I hear the word on the street is Oprah's putting out a clothing line. I can't wait to see the gems Oprah's been cooking up in that head of hers. I'm sure she's the second coming of Karl Lagerfeld, just nobody knew it. Something tells me Delta Burke's got a run for her money...and you know how Delta hates to run. Oh that was cruel. I almost hate myself for that one, if it weren't so funny.

Saw La Vie en Rose the other night. Just hand Marion Cotillard the oscar right now dammit because naturally she won't get it, but she more than deserves it. The emotional journey through hell that she takes you on that is Edith Piaf's life is phenomenal. When Edith's lover Marcel dies in a plane crash, I literally felt Marion reach into my throat and pull out my heart. It was beyond heartbreak. And yet amazingly Edith Piaf never felt that she had any horrid life or anything like that. Perhaps that's what made her such a brilliant singer. Speaking of which, they wrapped the movie up with Marion lipsyncing to this song, which really sums up Edith's life. And on the note of lipsyncing Marion does a fabulous job with that as well. There really wasn't a moment in the movie when I thought "Wow Marion Cotillard is a great actress," because there wasn't a moment I didn't think it wasn't Edith Piaf on the screen. You totally forget what Edith looks like in actuality. It's just a terrific piece of filmmaking.

I worked for seven hours today, I've never worked for more than three hours before and...I'm alive. Actually it went really well, I just can't stand my boss. Luckily, I don't usually work when she is. She was there today for a little bit. And maybe I'm just too defensive, because I do have a tendency to be that. And while there are many things I dislike about her, the one sticking out in my mind the most would be that she seems to thrive on vulgarity, and not in that fun charming Bette Midler way. It's just crass. But that's another story. Point being she can be nice when she wants to be. However something just doesn't work. The chemistry's off. I wonder what sign she is. Anyway...

So before I go...quick musical recommendation to you all. This little pixie of a singer named Blossom Dearie. I just discovered her and she's so darling. She doesn't have a strong voice or anything that will blow you away, but it's just so charming listening to her. Just charming. I found a variety of songs mixed on one track here

Hope you all have a lovely fourth.

Quote of the week:

Graham Norton (interviewing Joan Collins): Now on your recent tour with Legends, I hear you've been working with animals?
Joan Collins:  uh....well only Linda Evans

Only twoooo more days of school. Today I had my speech and my journalism final. During speech I gave a speech about who I admire most and I said Elizabeth Taylor and I think I did pretty well, I felt I was very eloquent in my response. To tell the truth, I logged onto simplyclassics.net and used a lot of what I said from an online argument when a nameless someone called Elizabeth Taylor a 'freak show.' When I was done three people told me that they always look forward to hearing my speeches which really made me feel terrif because it was from three people that I would least expect it from.

In other news I just bought Arlene Dahl's book, Always Ask A Man: The Key to Feminity. Ladies, don't fight your feminity suggests Arlene. "You may be healthy, attractive, intelligent, witty, athletic, personable, and rich, but it just isn't enough -- for that man -- if you're not feminine!" It promises to be pretty good, I've already adopted some of her techniques on skin care. Oh yes -  I am that person who actually reads beauty books and adopts the suggestions. I hope to do a lot more reading this summer so if any of you have any suggestionssss.....

New photos of moi up on myspace and facebook (sadly not in a matching fur cap and coat but nonetheless still pretty smashing.)
